I’ve been feeling the increasing support and love I’ve been receiving from all my fans lately, and I feel that I want to be giving something back. I’m giving away two of my first full-length albums, ‘Daylightless’ from 2007 and ‘Homefree’ from 2009 (As some of you may know, so far I’ve put out three albums + a collabo one). Also, may this serve as something ya’ll can chew on while waiting for the new EP (titled “Coffee Crazy EP”).
Here they are as a convenient download thru Dropbox or Soundcloud – you can choose the method that suits you best.
Take it easy, have some patience, the new “Coffee Crazy EP” will come…it’s not that far from being finished!
P.S.: A producer’s note: production-wise, this material is starting to sound a little dated to me as I’m working hard on getting my mixes (i.e., production quality) as good as possible. Some of these do sound kind of old because I used to have a lot of oldskool tunes as my reference material. But, the music’s still there!
Yesterday, there's been over 209 gigs worth of downloading happening thru my site alone due to the download craze! Holy f0ck. And that doesn't include Soundcloud. Wow.
The free-Fanu-album-downloading craze has resulted, so far, in 350 gigs worth of downloads thru my site, and 3,500+ downloads thru Soundcloud. All that in 48 hours. BIG. Thanks!! If any of you have missed it, check it here: http://fanumusic.com/fanus-daylightless ... -download/
Just saying one more time: massive, massive thanks for all the support for the recent album download craze . In four days, there's been around 3,000 album downloads thru my website, and, in addition to that, Soundcloud downloads for single tracks exceeded 4,000. That's insane. I PROMISE to finish the new EP soon: I'm working on the last (fifth) track for it.
I decided to give away a track that was supposed to be on an album I’m working on but, alas, a long story short (I’ll spare you the tech-geekery details), the song file is now gone and I can’t work on it anymore. Fortunately, I had done a “test recording” at some point, and this is it (I also did a bit of copy-pasting at the end to make it a wee bit longer to be somehow useful if you want to play it in a mix or something, and you can probably hear that).
This is the first song I created with an E-MU sampler I recently bought (I recently wrote about getting back to hardware samplers) and I happened to feel inspired by the good old 720 Degrees Records stuff, so this is the outcome of that. This one is mostly unmixed (only ran a few channels from the E-MU into a Soundcraft 200SR mixer) and it is unfinished, but hey, it’s a freebie.
It’s been great to notice that as I’ve got older, I’ve realized how little importance our possessions have. I know for sure that if I had lost a song of mine that I really liked when I was younger, it would’ve meant getting pretty damn bummed and feeling blue for a while, but now, as I’ve “awakened” a bit, I’ve realized that songs are just, well, songs, and I’ll always make more. Fittingly, even before I thought of that – and lost the song – I happened to place the speech samples in the track that complement the thoughts. The voices heard in the track may be recognized by some, and I’m all ears to guesses as to who are doing the speaking.
Well, I hope you like it – and, remember, there’s not that much in life that’s worth getting very upset about!
